Who’s your guide?

Hey! I’m Ruby, a 24 year old who’s been eating and exploring in Melbourne for years. I’m passionate about food and love showing off my city. My hobbies include; spending all my money on food, driving hours to visit farmers markets, and scouring Melbourne for my new favourite food (which is whatever I ate most recently). You can trust that I’m showing you the best Melbourne has to offer, I’ve done the research.

Why do a tour?

I truly believe Melbourne has some of the best food in the world. Sure, go to Paris and you’ll find fantastic french food, and Naple’s pizzas are legendary, but Melbourne offers cuisines from all over the world and does it well. Love Turkish food? We only have a whole neighbourhood dedicated to it. Love pizza? Melbourne’s home to the World Pizza Champ. How about Ethiopian? Footscray’s serving up the best injera bread around. Moroccan? Peruvian? Filipino? Well, you get the idea.

However, Melbourne’s one of those wonderful cities that slowly reveals itself to you, always leaving something new to discover. Which means that as a tourist, or newcomer to Melbourne, the go-to places aren’t always obvious. That’s where I come in!

 Tours

The tours I offer are a little different. They are essentially walking tours, but food focussed. We will walk around a market or neighbourhood, seeking out the most noteworthy spots and learning about Melbourne along the way! I aim to leave you with a full stomach and a few of Melbourne’s best-kept secrets.

Iconic Market Tour

Everyone loves a market and for good reason! They gather all of Melbourne’s best offerings in one place, a fantastic way to get a taste of the city.

On this tour we will discover Queen Victoria Market – a huge undercover market right in the busy city centre. We will explore the legendary Deli Hall, and I’ll arm you with a few recommendations before hitting the rest of the market.

You will discover delicacies such as South African biltong – a spicy, mouth watering version of jerky, and Turkish borek – crispy pastry wrapped around hot, juicy lamb or salty feta and spinach. Or perhaps the artisanal cheeses and fresh sourdough on offer will catch your eye. Plus, what’s a visit to Melbourne without trying our world class coffee!

Finish off the tour with a hot jam donut and you’re well on your way to being granted honorary Melburnian status.

Of course, I am on hand to help with any purchases.

Insider Market Tour

Still mostly untouched by tourists, South Melbourne Market is a food paradise. On this tour we will steal away from the bustling city centre to the leafy suburb of South Melbourne.

Kick off the day with one of Melbourne’s finest coffees and follow it up with a buttery almond croissant. We will visit a few of my favourite stalls and indulge in treats such as decadent truffle salami and creamy Tasmanian oysters. Combine it with a peek into the famed cheese cave and voila!

Welcome to Melbourne.
